Blended learning options utilize virtualization in inner city LA schools
Published: February 14, 2012
Although many virtualization tools in schools have been more commonly used in wealthier districts, inner-city schools in Los Angeles are creating a digital learning environment that provides students with some of the best technological tools to promote learning.
Twenty-two inner city schools in Los Angeles will be adopting a new digital learning program. Backed by the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools, the new learning program aims to support differentiated instruction, mixing teachers' various lesson plans and educational strategies amid a learning environment that is hinged on a mixture of face-to-face instruction and laptop, desktop and tablet-based education tools.
The program was unveiled during Digital Learning Day, meant to promote the use of digital learning tools in American schools.
According to an article in The Journal, every student at Miami's Holmes Elementary School recently received a laptop in an effort to improve student performance. Each laptop came pre-loaded with learning tools meant to enrich instruction, while also fostering better collaboration among students.
